Current Music: Symphony X - Revelation (Divus Pannae Ex Tragodia)
These have been a long time coming....

Now that Jess has two regular restaraunt dancing jobs, we've been able to start filming her performances. Currently I've put up one video with more coming soon

http://www.myspace.com/kamiliabellydance

or

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSSDGOZaH3M

It's good to see that reviews have gone up on a few restaraunt sites praising the belly dancer on the night too haha

So I'm one proud chappy at the moment :D

Coming soon as well will be some videos of me playing the new kit :)

Oh yeah, I've also finally started going back to the gym... getting up early is a nightmare. Did you know there's a 6 o'clock in the morning now?

FINALLY setting up my new drumkit... good that thing looks sexy :D

Best of all, I actually got to play it hehe

Here's some teaser pics, I'll take proper shots when I move it to an area that I can actually get in front of the drums haha

I need to give it a name... currently forerunner is either "Jolly Green Giant" or "Gamblor"

No reason for the second name, I just like it haha ;)

Apr. 19th, 2007 @ 11:59 am Our landlord is a dumb arse!
Jess rang the agent to see if we could get a second cat added to the lease agreement (just incase). The agent rang back and said "the landlord has agreed as long as you stay on after the lease expires and the rent is going up $20 in July"

When Jess asked why she was told "because that's when your six months runs out". Jess laughed and said "check your paperwork, we signed for 12"

So at least we know they're planning on raising the rent when our contract eventually expires. Neither of us want to or need to move so we'll probably just wear it on the chin when it happens

I've got a major quandry on my hands... I was up at my "local" drum store on saturday lining up a sponsorship deal for Livewyre, turns out the reason they're so eager to sponsor us is because my mate who runs the store has been offered a partnership by the owner... but he wants to buy the store for himself outright instead. Only problem was raising the 100 grand to go ahead with it

I joked to Jess that I should go into it as well, approach a bank for a 50 grand "business loan" and own part of the store myself..... she told me I definately should go for it because I'd be living out one of my dreams

Now I'm stuck in two minds because I can't deny that owning/running my own drum store is pretty much my dream but it's a HUGE risk to take financially

Apr. 13th, 2007 @ 10:07 am Livewyre Announcement
G'day Everyone,

After two years bringing you all metal on Friday nights, the time has come for Livewyre to move on..... to a new timeslot!

You've probably noticed in the last few months that Jess and myself have missed several shows due to other commitments. This has forced us to rethink the idea of a Friday night timeslot. Luckily as fate would have it, a new slot was opened up by the cancellation of one of the regular Monday night shows.

So as of the 23rd of April, Livewyre will now be broadcast weekly on Monday 6pm to 8pm

As regular listeners will know, while the Friday timeslot was great, we had no real listener lead-in or lead-out (being surrounded by a call-in show and a Romanian language show). This will no longer be the case as we will be following Powerzone, a rock show, and leading into Unhinged, a Hardcore/Punk show.

So we look forward to everyone tuning into our new timeslot. And for those that haven't listened, DO IT! :D

Be sure to check out the other hard rock and metal shows on SWR FM 99.9. I doubt you'll find any other radio station in Australia with this sort of weekly commitment to metal!

Later this year will see the return of the "Small Day In" series of concerts as well.... we are in the beginning stages of planning these again. The last few months have been insanely busy with outdoor broadcasts (this is our "festival season") so the gigs where put on the backburner. We are looking to remedy this though. The shows will mostly be run in conjunction with Blacktown PCYC

Monday

Powerzone - 4pm-6pm (Rock)
Livewyre - 6pm-8pm (Metal)
Unhinged - 8pm-10pm (Hardcore/punk)
Iron & Stone Age - 10pm-12am (Rock/Metal)

Wednesday

Paradigm - 10pm-12am (Prog Metal)
Guitars, Amps & Drums - 12am-1am (Rock)

Thursday

Obscure Alternatives - 12pm-2pm (Hard Rock/Metal)

Saturday

The Sound of Metal - 6pm-8pm (Metal)
The Krypt - 8pm-10pm (Hard Rock/Metal)

For those in Sydney, tune your radios into 99.9FM to check us out. You can also listen online at http://www.swrfm.org/

Check out Livewyre's myspace page for more information and playlists at http://www.myspace.com/livewyreshow

Cheers,
Todd and Jess

I swear to god I am fucking cursed... whenever I make ANY plans with money, something comes along to screw me over. This time it's not my car (for once)....

We were having dinner and Millie jumped up and quickly grabbed a chicken bone off Jess's plate.... managed to swallow it before Jess could pull it back out (managed to get a few bites for her troubles)

Rang a couple of vets and both told us the same thing "you'll know within 12 hours if it can't be broken down in her stomach. It will need to be surgically removed then... and that will cost 2000 dollars"

That's 2 months of savings gone out of the 6 months we have to save for the wedding... all for a fucking chicken bone!

I was just filling out the application form for the next radio semester and noticed this;

"If your show has more then 5% lyrical or spoken content in another language, it is considered a non-English program"

Why did I take note of this?

All the Non-English shows on our station have their shows funded by the government. Makes me wonder if I spent 6 minutes each week (which is 5% of our airtime) playing Finntroll, they'd give me an exemption from fees haha

Mar. 28th, 2007 @ 08:04 pm Motherfuckers
People have nagged me for years about trying to get on a gameshow.... Jess recently saw an ad asking for people interested in going on "The Rich List". I sent an email off, got the details and went over to the "venue" tonight.

I arrived at North Sydney around 6:30 to find that the "free 2 story carpark" was closed due to construction work. Every street around the venue for 5 blocks were no parking zones. I eventually paid to park in a carpark and ran back to the venue only to be told that I was 5 minutes too late!

So lets recap..

- Wasted petrol in getting to and from North Sydney
- Wasted time
- Wasted M2 toll money both ways
- Wasted parking fee at carpark
- Wasted effort running up Miller St (I haven't run like that in years)
- Wasted hope that maybe I actually had a shot

You would think they'd choose somewhere more logical then a bowls club in the middle of fucking nowhere (public transport wise and parking)

I was severely tempted to force my way into the room but they weren't worth the effort.

I had written up a monstrously long post about the "adventures" me and Jess had while moving but Livejournal buggered up and now I've lost the damn thing.

Suffice to say, Bing Lee stuffed us around with our appliances... much arguing took place. Eventually got our fridge delivered (they took it to the wrong place originally) and our washing machine (they sold us stock they didn't have)

We've been in the house 3 weeks now and settled in pretty nicely. Our neighbours are weird but managed to avoid them for the most part.

Ok now that's out of the way, I can go back to good ole random livejournal posting

Oh and I'll post some pics up soon enough for those that have been asking

Dec. 31st, 2006 @ 01:00 am Stuff for sale again
Ok I'm after some quick cash to help with the big move.... just tore my room apart trying to find anything I could feasibly sell. I'd like to avoid using ebay, so PM me if you're interested in any of the following (these prices are negotiable)

- Reebok 10lbs Ankle/Waist Weight Belt. Originally bought for $120, selling for $50 or nearest offer (still in PERFECT condition, used maybe twice)
- Michael Moore "Dude, Where's My Country" hardcover book $10

The following drumming VIDEOS (PM me for prices)

- "The Making of Burning For Buddy" 2 video set. Features Kenny Aronoff, Bill Bruford, Steve Gadd, Neil Peart, Ed Shaughnessy, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Dave Weckl, Billy Cobham, Steve Ferrone, Omar Hakim, Joe Morello, Rod Morgenstein, Simon Phillips, Steve Smith, Matt Sorum

- Dave Weckly "A Natural Evolution" 2 video set covering "How to Develop Technique" and "How to Practise". Awesome vids, very very usefull

- Kenny Aronoff "Power Workout 1 - Double Bass Drums". Comes with workbook as well to follow the exercises in the video

- Johnny Rabb "The Freehand Technique". Wanna know how to do the "gravity blast" (ala Origin, Kataklysm), this video is all you'll ever need to watch. Johnny Rabb is the MASTER at this and the video is invaluable. Again, comes with exercises in a book

- Joe Franco "Double Bass Drumming". Older vid but still good to work with

- Virgil Donati "Obsessive Rhythms", "Power Drumming", "Live at the Modern Drummer Festival" I'll sell these as a set, probably the most usefull drumming vids you'll ever see!

- Modern Drummer Festival featuring Virgil Donati, John Tempesta, Steve Gadd & Giovanni Hidalgo, Bill Stewart, Horacia "El Negro" Hernadez, Paul Wertico, Jack DeJohnette, Steve Ferrone

- "Double Bass Drumming" with Terry Bozzio, Joe Franco, Rod Morgenstein and Simon Phillips

- Joe Stronsick "Ballistic Bass Drums". Where I learnt how to do double strokes with my feet. Bodgy as fuck production and the guy reeks of used car salesman but he breaks down the motion brilliantly. I'll chuck it in for free if you buy any of the other vids haha

Dec. 26th, 2006 @ 10:15 pm Spreading xmas cheer.... $1 at a time
Well here's my haul.....

- New sunglasses from Jess. I actually got these about 2 weeks ago, WAY more expensive then what I would wanted her to spend but Jess justified it by saying she saw the look on my face when I lost my old pair at Melbourne Airport in July
- A talking Quagmire pen "AAALLLLLRIGHT"
- "Once in a Livetime" by Dream Theater. The only cd I didn't already own
- An alarm clock.... that was actually picked by my 4 year old nephew. Do you think my family are trying to tell me something haha
- A couple of packs of new socks and a ridiculously large shower gel pack from mum

And me and Jess were given these as joint gifts;

- Two bed spread sets
- A large quilt
- A dining set
- $50 to add to our savings

Xmas was a rather small affair for us this year. I was just happy to see all of my family turn up to my parents place on the day because it was looking questionable that they'd come

Next weekend should be cool though, get to give my niece and nephew their joint gift. We all pitched in and bought them one of those huge springless trampolines!

I didn't realise it until afterwards but I actually spend more on Jess this year then last.... the only difference was that my presents were spread out over a few weeks this year. I got her the following;

- Tickets to see Blind Guardian
- Ticket to see Weird Al
- A bottle of Baileys
- A brand new dancing costume

And the following special edition dvd's
- Harry Potter 1,2,3,4
- Pirates of the Caribbean 2
- Sin City

Amazing what you'd spend on someone you love haha

Dec. 22nd, 2006 @ 08:22 am House Hunting
So we finally decided to start looking at places to move out.... we saw a place yesterday that really caught our attention but were told that we probably wouldn't find out before the new year. Jess rang them today about 11:30 and was told we made the "good pile" of applications with two others. Unfortunately they couldn't get a hold of the owner to go over the applications so the next 11 days are going to be a killer. Patience isn't my strong point at times haha

We're probably still going to make the most of the post xmas sales and buy as much as we can (ie, what we can afford haha). Even if we don't get this place we're still getting out before the end of January.

The place we looked at, while an older house, was in really good condition. Hard wood floors, MASSIVE built in robes with full length mirrors (perfect for practising drumming and dancing) and best of all, it's 2 minutes from Jess's new job, 2 minutes from my gym and 10 minutes from my work :D

*fingers crossed*

Now this is just cool... Jess finished TAFE last week. She saw a job ad online, applied for it and was asked to come in for an agency interview.

The agency sent her straight over to a medical supply company in Seven Hills. During the interview, she was told the interviewer had a "good gut feeling" about her. An hour later they offered her the job :D

$35k a year
10 minutes from home
8:30am - 4:30pm

Best of all though, is that it's going to give her "medical terminology" experience which is vital if you want to get an admin role in the health system. I've been trying to get in there for years but have had no luck, Jess now has the advantage.

I've been told by many people, once you get a hospital admin job, you never leave (which is why they're so damn hard to get in the first place)
